Christmas & New Year

Thought I would wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a fun filled New Year.
It hasn't been a good year for a lot of us, so here is hoping that next year is the start of all things new and special, seeing plenty of happy moments and not too many sad one.
There are lots of things I would change personally if I could. Sometimes you do not have control over your destiny.
New Years Resolution: hmmm change the things that I can, and be happy with those that I can't. Maybe take a chance or two on some positive steps towards being a happier, healthier person. Well.... I can only try.

Albatross

Sorry just had to do this one. We now have a beautiful bird on top of our ERC / Wildlife display cabinet at Altona Library. Such a majestic bird. They frequent our shores from time to time and can be spotted at Altona beach. Well anyway our new arrival is preached in all its glory on top of a cabinet that displays wildlife. They are all so glorious but I am afraid that as soon as I saw this one the other day, all I could think of was a Monty Python scene, so needless to say, that for the rest of the day, all I kept saying was "Albatross".

Ok, you need to know what I am talking about to get it... Watch these for some fun and frivolity:

which is just the Albatross Sketch and the next is from

MONTY PYTHON @ THE HOLLYWOOD BOWL (about 4 mins in)

Do you get wafers with that?

Monty Python and the Holy Grail

Have you seen Monty Python and the Holy Grail??

If you haven't, you really need to. Best movie ever and done on a oh so cheap budget.

Take this sketch for example. Even the horses are? just two halves of a coconut shell. They couldn't afford horses, so well they used coconuts instead.

Watch the Black Knight and relive the memories or experience the magic:

Right! I'll do you for that!

Tracing your Family Tree

Have you ever thought of who your ancestors were?
Ever tried to start tracing your family tree but hit a brick wall?
What if you do find people in your past that you would rather not have been there?
Is there some skeletons in your closet?
It can be rather scary but fully rewarding, but mind you once you start there is no turning back. It becomes an obsession. Ever piece of information uncovered, fuels the fire and pushes you on. Sometimes you will be on information overload, others it seems like the well has dried up.
In my next few posts I will endeavor to pass on some tips and hints and a few stories or two.
These are only my experiences and most of what I know is just by learning as I went along, and we of course never stop learning, which is the best bit about this all.
